Almuñécar is a town situated in the heart of the Granada coastline, which stretches from the end of Malaga's Costa del Sol until the beginning of the Costa de Almeria. HISTORY
Historically speaking, it has been home to Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs until the arrival of Christians. There are still traces of these cultures in the town. Almuñécar is a mosaic of elements of history and modernity, leisure time and culture, giving a typically Spanish character to the town.
CLIMATE
Warm climate with a very little rain, more than 320 days of sunshine in the year. Almuñécar has a micro-climate, which justifies the name Costa Tropical. The climate is not really tropical but sub-tropical, without the humidity common to the tropics. In wintertime, temperatures very rarely fall below 10 or 12 degrees centigrade. Wintertime has indeed the remarkable average of 18 degrees. During summer, this average rises to about 25 degrees, with midday temperatures often well into the 30's. On average there are only twenty rainy days throughout the year.
